In November 2012 , the Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC ) of the Council for Higher Education published a Call to all Israeli academic institutions encouraging the creation of specialized Haredi academic frameworks within existing institutions .
This Call was the result of a process that began several years before and had gained momentum, after the taking of office of the PBC ‘s current chairman , Prof. Manuel Trachtenberg . SNI took an active part in this process, examining various ways in which Haredim could be integrated into the Israeli academic world whilst considering the unique characteristics of this population .
The data presented below was derived directly from the academic institutions who partook in this project . Heads of these institutions received a letter from the Samuel Neaman Ultra-Orthodox Integration team requesting the latest data regarding the current state of the project in the institute. This enabled the Neaman team to track and offer constructive advice to the PBC regarding ways forward.
