This book focuses on the sensitivity analysis of the building’s energy performance, in the temperate-cool and hot-humid climate of Israel, to the values assigned to various design parameters during the early conceptual design stage. During this design stage, the architect defines the geometry of the building and its relation to the surroundings. Systematic evaluation of the thermal performance of the building was carried- using a dynamic simulation model. In each set of tests a sensitivity analysis was done for only one design parameter, keeping the others at the same level. In this way, the relative importance of the design parameters and its recommended value were determined. Accordingly the designer can devote more attention to those parameters that most influence the thermal performance of the building. The recommendations obtained from this work are aimed at providing the designer with guidance about the advisable energy-efficient design of the building during the decision-making process.
