Climate change attracts worldwide attention because of the environmental, economic and social implications. Samuel Neaman Institute’s studies in this field include means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation) and their purpose is to describe and analyze emissions and provide a scientific basis for formulating national policies in various fields, including energy production, transportation, industry, construction, agriculture, water and more.<\/p>\n

The Environmental cluster of Samuel Neaman Institute manages the voluntary reporting and registering system for greenhouse gas emissions with the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The reporting system, which has been in operation since 2010, is voluntary but subject to criteria and methods developed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Samuel Neaman Institute, in collaboration with a working team that included representatives from all the sectors of the economy and various governmental bodies. A special Excel file, which is developed and updated every year by the Samuel Neaman Institute is used as a tool for quantifying greenhouse gas emissions and documenting the emission inventories of the reporting bodies. Instructional videos for filling out the reporting forms can be found on the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection. As of 2017, the reporting system is managed in collaboration with Ecotraders Ltd.

Another project conducted with the Ministry of Environmental Protection included assisting the inter-ministerial executive committee that formulated during 2010 the National plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n
