The law effectively imposes an additional tax on the public and creates a complex mechanism and all this for a negligible part of most of the waste in Israel. Hopefully at least the public discussion about the matter will raises awareness and reduce the use of bags.
Israel Carrier Bags Act came into force in January 2017.
