Israeli academic research institutions are facing major challenges that may jeopardize their future existence, as well as their vital role in society as beacons of knowledge and intellectual leadership. These challenges stem partly from their dependency on external sources, and partly from internal distortions within the academic system, arising from efforts to enhance public perception at the expense of the fundamental pursuit of academic excellence.
The central objective of this initiative is to identify and map the principal challenges currently confronting academic research institutions. Furthermore, it endeavors to propose practical strategies for restructuring the system, and internal reforms that will strengthen the academic core. This initiative is specifically focused on the challenges encountered by Israeli academic research institutions.
