Shimon Marom is a professor in the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine (primary affiliation) and the Viterbi Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He is the incumbent of the Pearl Seiden Chair in Sciences. His basic training is in Psychology, Physiology, Biophysics and Medicine (MD, PhD). Over the years Marom headed the Department of Physiology and Biophysics in the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, and the Rothschild Scholars Technion Program for Excellence; and served as Dean of Medicine (2017–2019) and the Technion Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs (2019–2022). His research interests span structural, functional, and dynamical aspects of electrical phenomena in neural networks; and cells and proteins that are embedded in closed loop relations with responsive and adaptive environments. In the field of critical thinking, Marom promotes a relational framework for dialogue between physiology and psychology as systematic languages.
