About

Dr. Reuven Gal’s research covers a broad range of social and psychological topics, spanning national and communal resilience, issues related to Israeli Ultra-Orthodox Jews and Israeli Arab/Palestinian citizens, social processes and transitions within Israeli society, civil-military relations, and matters related to stress and coping, disasters, and post-trauma. Gal has extensive experience in academic, governmental, and non-governmental arenas. He served as Chief Psychologist of the Israeli Navy and later as the IDF Chief Psychologist and Commander of the IDF Department of Behavioural Sciences. Gal founded and directed the Carmel Institute for Social Studies and the Center for Quality Leadership. He served as the Deputy National Security Advisor of Israel’s NSC, and as the founding director of the Administration for National Civic Service. Gal’s teaching career in psychology spans many universities, both in Israel and abroad. He has published numerous academic papers and authored seven books. He sits on several Boards of Directorsand Editorial Boards.
