Karel Martens is a Professor of Transport Planning in the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at Technion and head of the Fair Transport Lab. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Spatial Planning and a PhD in Policy Sciences from Radboud University in the Netherlands. Martens is an international authority on transport and justice. He has authored numerous publications on the topic, notably his groundbreaking book Transport Justice: Designing Fair Transportation Systems. His contributions resonate within the research community as well as in practice, leading to his international acclaim as a sought-after public and keynote speaker. Martens was voted “Transport Professional of the Year” in the Netherlands in 2014, owing in part to his inspiring work on transport and justice.
