Itamar Kahn

Itamar Kahn is an Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and a Principal Investigator at the Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute. Kahn investigates the basic principles of connectivity in the brain, aiming to understand how the brain generates complex behaviors associated with high-order cognition in both health and disease. His research utilizes advances in whole-brain imaging to address mechanistic questions about brain circuits and behavior. By combining the development of MRI methods used in mice with conceptual questions about brain connectivity and function in mice and humans, Kahn strives to explain the brain mechanisms underlying flexible behavior and its disruption in humans. He earned a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from Ben-Gurion University, a PhD in Neuroscience from MIT, and completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard University.
