About

Prof. Irad Yavneh received his BSc in Aeronautical Engineering at Technion and his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Since 1993 he has been a member of the Technion Faculty of Computer Science, serving as dean from 2013 to 2017, and later as Director of the Samuel Neaman Institute from 2020 to 2023. His research interests span multi-scale computational techniques, scientific computing and computational physics, image processing and analysis, and geophysical fluid dynamics. He has held editorial positions at the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing (SISC) and Numerical Linear Algebra and Applications. In 2021 he led the creation of the “Technion Campus Leaders” program aimed at cultivating future Technion leaders and has since headed the program. A dedicated teacher, Yavneh is the recipient of important teaching awards, notably the Yanai Prize for Excellence in Academic Education.
