Hezki Farkash is the operations officer of ZAKA North and the project manager of the “Honoring the Elderly” project of the Ministry of Social Equality in Haifa. He is a research assistant in the “Integration of Ultra-Orthodox” project and the “Emergency and Earthquake Preparedness” project for the Ultra-Orthodox community.
Hezki was born in Haifa on March 3, 1980, to Tzvi and Nechama Farkash. He grew up in the Vizhnitz neighborhood in Haifa and was educated in the “Yachel Yisrael” institutions in Seret Vizhnitz until 2002. On February 14, 2002, he married Heni (a payroll accountant, doula, and marriage counselor), and they have six children.
Hezki Farkash holds two degrees from the University of Haifa: a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Humanities and an M.A. in Disaster and Emergency Management. He was active in evacuating casualties during the Second Lebanon War, the Carmel Fire event (2010), the Sinai Terror Attack (2004), and managing the casualty concentration station during the Meron disaster on Lag BaOmer 2021. Under the National-Civil Service Law, he established the “Honoring the Elderly” program in Haifa and created volunteer pathways for yeshiva students within the “City Without Violence” framework and the Authority for the Fight Against Drugs and Alcohol.
Awards and Recognition:
In 2007, he received the President’s Volunteer Medal. In 2007, he received a Rabbinic Ordination certificate from Rabbi Tneimi, Rabbi of Rekhasim, from the Chief Rabbi of Haifa Rabbi Sha’ar Yashuv Cohen, and from the Chief Rabbi of Metula, Rabbi Baruch Pachter. In 2019, he completed National-Civil Service in Emergency Equipment Operation. On Independence Day 2010, he received officer ranks from the Israel Police.
