About

Dr. Daphne Getz is head of the CESTIP (Center of Excellence in Science, Technology, and Innovation Policies), and has been a senior research fellow at the Samuel Neaman Institute since 1996, and the director of the Institute information center. With expertise in academy-industry relations, and in the formulation of policies for cutting-edge technology development, Getz was a member of the Israeli R&D MAGNET Consortia, linking researchers from industry and academia for the advancement of new technologies. She has represented Israel in multiple EU and UN projects, notably the PRIME project on: “Nano-district 2” – investigating the evolution and development of Nano in academia and industry in Israel, and the  ENID – STI Indicators Conference Series. Getz was a key representative in a UN team of experts on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, where she was elected a member of the team’s management body. Over the years, she has initiated numerous projects, including the development of Israeli indicators for STI, evaluation of R&D programs, the assessment of Israeli R&D output using bibliometrics, and studies on STI human resources. Getz brings extensive experience from the Israeli high-tech industry, where she has held senior managerial positions, including multi-year planning for the implementation of future technologies. She served as a visiting scientist at Oregon State University and the University of Toronto. Getz is currently a member of the Horizon 2020 European Research Infrastructure for Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Studies (RISIS2) project and PI for the Israel Precision Medicine Partnership (IPMP) Evaluation Project.
