About

Abraham (Avi) Berman is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Technion and Senior Research Fellow at the Samuel Neaman Institute. Berman hold the Israel Pollak Academic Chair and previously served as Head of the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology, the Center for Pre-Academic Education, and the Interdepartmental Committee on Applied Mathematics. His research encompasses Matrix Theory, Spectral Graph Theory, Mathematics Education, Creativity, and Giftedness. He has been the recipient of several international grants, including the Science Foundation of Ireland, the German-Israel Foundation, and the ISF-NSFC joint scientific program. He enjoys mentoring students and has supervised 24 PhD students, 21 MSc students, 12 postdocs, 11 undergraduate students, and 4 high school students. Berman has authored nine books and edited five others, with his most recent publications: N. Shaked-Monderer and A. Berman, Copositive and Completely Positive Matrices, World Scientific, 2021, and A. Berman, A Problem Based Journey from Elementary Number Theory to an Introduction to Matrix Theory. World Scientific, 2022.
