In the 30 years since the planning and building regulations requiring solar installations in residential buildings up to nine stories went into effect, many changes and progress was achieved in the construction sector. Due to the increase in population and the shortage of free land space, the proportion of high-rise buildings in residential construction is rising. Regulations regarding solar systems for hot water supply must be altered to address the changing situation. Technology today enables the installation of solar water heating systems in high rise buildings, giving regulators the possibility to expand the existing regulations and apply it to multi-story buildings, contributing significantly to enhance the use of solar energy while saving energy, money and air pollution at the national level. This savings may allow a significant delay in the next power plant establishment of Israel.
