Israel’s higher education system faces significant challenges related to research and teaching quality, the relationship between research universities and colleges, and the assessment of academic excellence.
This project aims to map key challenges, develop practical solutions, and create innovative evaluation models based on meaningful contributions to research, society, and the economy. As part of this initiative, the roles of research universities and colleges will be redefined—encouraging universities to focus on advanced research and scientific breakthroughs while promoting excellence in teaching and professional training in colleges.
The project is structured around multidisciplinary discussion groups, bringing together experts from academia and relevant fields to explore practical strategies for improving system efficiency and refining evaluation metrics. The project’s findings are expected to serve as a foundation for broad policy recommendations, ensuring the long-term quality and sustainability of Israel’s higher education system.
