Firefighting foam is the most commonly used method to suppress fires after extinguishing with water. As part of the current project, a literature survey was conducted on the various types of firefighting foams and its substitutes.
By reviewing the information from open sources, various types of foams, uses, means of disposal, and standardization were presented. Recommended types of training and state-of-the-art firefighting materials in Israel and the world were also reviewed.
Recommendations were made regarding the proper work with foam, storage and staff training as well as alternative substitutes and novel techniques were proposed.
